THE ROLE

We are looking for a hands-on Quality Engineer / SDET to join our team on a 6-month contract, preferably based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

This role is primarily focused on test automation (approximately 90%), with an emphasis on building reliable automated testing solutions that support software quality, development efficiency, and continuous delivery.

You will collaborate closely with software engineers and DevOps team members to develop and maintain automated tests across application, API, and backend layers. The remaining responsibilities will involve targeted manual and exploratory testing where needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Test Automation: Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts, frameworks, and reusable testing utilities.

  • Automation Development: Use JavaScript/Node.js or Python, alongside Cypress or similar automation frameworks, to implement reliable and maintainable tests.

  • Test Coverage: Build and execute automated functional, integration, API, and regression tests across application and backend services.

  • CI/CD Integration: Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous validation and faster feedback.

  • Quality Investigation: Analyze test failures, troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and collaborate with engineers to resolve defects.

  • Framework Improvement: Improve test coverage, execution reliability, maintainability, and overall automation efficiency.

  • Targeted Manual Testing: Perform exploratory and manual testing when automation is insufficient or when validating new or complex functionality.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and DevOps teams to incorporate quality practices throughout the software development lifecycle.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

Must-have

  • 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance, software testing, or test automation.

  • Strong programming skills in JavaScript/Node.js or Python, with the ability to write maintainable test code.

  • Hands-on experience developing and maintaining automated testing frameworks using Cypress or similar tools.

  • Practical experience automating API, integration, functional, and regression tests.

  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.

  • Proficiency in debugging test failures, investigating defects, and identifying root causes.

  • Familiarity with Git and version control workflows.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a quality-focused mindset.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience testing applications or services deployed on AWS or other cloud platforms.

  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and command-line tools.

  • Experience with Docker or containerized environments.

  • Exposure to CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.

  • Experience testing distributed systems, data workflows, or backend-heavy applications.

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices or Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
