The Role

We are seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer to join our team in delivering advanced technical troubleshooting and platform diagnostics for a global enterprise cloud platform. In this role, you will perform deep root-cause analysis on complex biomedical and genomic data workflows running in production environments. No previous biomedical or genomics experience required.

Positioned between frontline support, bioinformatics teams, and core platform/DevOps engineers, you will investigate infrastructure and execution failures, optimize job performance, and deliver high-impact technical solutions to scientists and enterprise end-users.

Responsibilies

  • Platform Diagnostics & Root Cause Analysis: Investigate technical escalations regarding workflow execution failures, compute/storage bottlenecks, system performance degradation, and infrastructure anomalies.

  • Customer Solutions & Communication: Utilize CRM and ticketing environments (Salesforce, Jira) to deliver precise, high-touch technical resolutions to global clients, bioinformaticians, and data analysts.

  • Cross-Functional Escalation Engineering: Partner with support teams, DevOps, and Platform Engineering to trace bugs across distributed systems, isolate infrastructure constraints, and guide permanent fixes.

  • Observability & System Monitoring: Analyze execution logs, platform metrics, and AWS CloudWatch signals to isolate failure points across containerized job environments and large-scale data pipelines.

  • Knowledge Enablement & Documentation: Develop technical runbooks, internal diagnostic guides, playbooks, and knowledge-base assets to upskill support engineering and streamline operational workflows.

Must-have Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: 3–6+ years of experience in Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, or Systems Engineering roles with dedicated escalation handling.

  • Cloud Infrastructure: Strong hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch).

  • System Diagnostics: Deep Linux administration skills, log analysis, and troubleshooting experience within complex cloud-native environments.

  • Scripting: Proficiency in Python or Bash for diagnostics, automated checks, and system analysis.

  • Support Operations: Familiarity with CRM or enterprise ticketing tools such as Salesforce and Jira to manage high-severity engineering escalationás.

  • Communication: Professional written and proficient spoken English skills to effectively communicate technical findings to cross-functional engineering teams and enterprise users.

Nice-to-Have Qualificaitons

  • Experience in customer-facing technical support environments.

  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator).

  • Experience with scientific cloud platforms (DNAnexus, AWS HealthOmics, Lifebit).

  • Familiarity with genomics data formats (FASTQ, BAM, VCF).
