About DataXight

DataXight, headquartered in Mountain View, CA, is on a bold mission to transform life science and healthcare through groundbreaking data-driven software solutions. We're passionate about empowering our team to work on projects that not only push boundaries but also make a tangible difference in the lives of millions. Are you ready to be part of something greater?

The Role

As a Senior Full Stack Quality Engineer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the reliability, architecture, and performance of our distributed systems. You’ll write production-grade software code, apply robust engineering practices, drive automation initiatives, design scalable test frameworks, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with product management, engineering, DevOps, and security to maintain world-class quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain reliable automated tests using Python and modern testing frameworks.

  • Build and improve reusable test automation frameworks, libraries, fixtures, and utilities.

  • Develop unit, integration, API, and end-to-end tests for backend services, SDKs, data-processing jobs, and distributed workflows.

  • Validate API behavior, data integrity, asynchronous execution, error handling, permissions, and system integration.

  • Test cloud-based workloads across different configurations, environments, and regions.

  • Investigate failures involving application behavior, test automation, cloud configuration, execution environments, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Improve test stability, execution efficiency, maintainability, and failure diagnostics.

  • Collaborate with developers to review requirements, identify quality risks, and define effective test strategies and acceptance criteria.

  • Contribute to code reviews, testability improvements, and engineering best practices.

  • Maintain clear test results, traceability, and supporting evidence for release readiness and applicable compliance requirements.

  • Share technical knowledge and support the development of other engineers.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in software quality engineering or test automation.

  • Strong programming skills in Python (beyond basic scripting).

  • Hands-on experience with Python testing frameworks such as pytest or equivalent.

  • Solid understanding of software testing principles, test design, integration testing, API testing, and automation architecture.

  • Practical understanding of cloud environments such as AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, AWS Console) including fundamental concepts of compute, storage, regions, identity/access permissions, and execution environments.

  • Ability to investigate cloud-related application or test failures using logs, API responses, execution status, configuration, and other diagnostic evidence.

  • Experience testing backend services, distributed applications, data-processing systems, or asynchronous workflows.

  • Experience with REST APIs, JSON, authentication, error handling, and service integration.

  • A sharp eye for UX/usability and a proven ability to manually navigate and validate complex user workflows.

  • Comfortable working with Linux/Unix, Git, Docker, and CI/CD workflows.

  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills, including the ability to distinguish product defects from test, environment, or configuration issues.

  • Ability to work independently, communicate technical findings clearly, and collaborate effectively with distributed engineering teams.

  • Strong written and spoken English.

Nice-to-have Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with Jest and React Testing Library for unit and integration testing.

  • Experience with data analytics or bioinformatics pipelines.

  • Understanding of modern Lake-house data infrastructure.

  • Experience with test data management and performance testing at scale.

  • Familiarity with containerization, GitHub Actions, and infrastructure-as-code workflows.

Lifelong Skills

  • Inquisitive Mindset: Demonstrates a deep-rooted curiosity, constantly seeking to understand project details and underlying principles, indicative of a continuous learning approach.

  • Clarity and Insight: Actively seeks clarity and understanding of project requirements to ensure accurate and effective implementation.

  • Depth of Perception: Has talent for looking beyond initial requests, intuitively grasping and addressing the core needs and objectives underlying a project.

  • Implementation Insight: Skilled in outlining and describing the phases of project implementation, breaking down complex tasks into manageable steps.
