THE ROLE

  • We are looking for a hands-on Quality Engineer to join our team on a 6-month contract, preferably based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

  • This role is primarily focused on test automation, with an emphasis on building reliable automated testing solutions that support software quality, development efficiency, and continuous delivery.

  • You will collaborate closely with software engineers and DevOps team members to develop and maintain automated tests across application, API, and backend layers. The remaining responsibilities will involve targeted manual and exploratory testing where needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, and maintain reliable automated tests using JavaScript/NodeJS and modern testing frameworks.

  • Build and improve reusable test automation frameworks, libraries, fixtures, and utilities.

  • Develop unit, integration, API, and end-to-end tests for backend services, SDKs, data-processing jobs, and distributed workflows.

  • Validate API behavior, data integrity, asynchronous execution, error handling, permissions, and system integration.

  • Test cloud-based workloads across different configurations, environments, and regions.

  • Investigate failures involving application behavior, test automation, cloud configuration, execution environments, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Improve test stability, execution efficiency, maintainability, and failure diagnostics.

  • Collaborate with developers to review requirements, identify quality risks, and define effective test strategies and acceptance criteria.

  • Contribute to code reviews, testability improvements, and engineering best practices.

  • Maintain clear test results, traceability, and supporting evidence for release readiness and applicable compliance requirements.

  • Share technical knowledge and support the development of other engineers.

MUST-HAVE SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance, software testing, or test automation.

  • Strong coding skills in JavaScript/Node.js (beyond basic scripting). with the ability to write maintainable test code.

  • Hands-on experience developing and maintaining automated testing frameworks using Cypress or similar tools.

  • Practical experience automating API, integration, functional, and regression tests.

  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.

  • Proficiency in debugging test failures, investigating defects, and identifying root causes.

  • Familiarity with Git and version control workflows.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a quality-focused mindset.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience testing applications or services deployed on AWS or other cloud platforms.

  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and command-line tools.

  • Experience with Docker or containerized environments.

  • Exposure to CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.

  • Experience testing distributed systems, data workflows, or backend-heavy applications.

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices or Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
