The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our digital transformation team. You’ll build and optimize data pipelines, develop robust data models, and deliver reliable analytics layers that power insights across the company.
Key Responsibilities
Distillation of Business Requirements: Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders, establish design principles, and build a fit-for-purpose data architecture.
Data Pipelines: Design, build, and maintain scalable pipelines using Airflow, DBT, and Python to move data reliably across systems.
Data Platform Engineering: Skilled in leveraging Airflow to orchestrate complex data workflows across AWS. Ensure data quality and consistency across systems through validation and reconciliation.
Modeling & BI Layer: Develop clean, scalable data models and maintain the BI data layer to support analytics and reporting.
Analytical Mindset: Detect data troubleshoot issues.
SQL & Querying: Write and optimize complex SQL queries for analytics, pipelines, and dashboards.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with business teams to define KPIs and deliver data products that inform decisions.
Documentation: Maintain clear, thorough documentation for data flows, models, and processes
Tools & APIs: Build APIs and internal tools to make data accessible for downstream apps and analytics.
Ownership: Take end-to-end ownership of key data engineering initiatives, leading projects from design and implementation through to successful deployment and measurable impact
Required Skills
Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience in data engineering.
Python for ETL: Solid experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and robust ETL/ELT workflows, primarily using Python, to ensure long-term stability and efficiency.
SQL Mastery: Skilled in writing and optimizing complex queries (Postgres or Redshift preferred).
Data Modeling: Strong background in designing scalable, business-ready data models.
Airflow for ETL: Experience scheduling and monitoring pipelines using Apache Airflow.
AWS Cloud: Familiar with AWS services like S3, Redshift, Lambda, EventBridge, CostReporting, and others.
Source Control: Use of Git/GitHub for version control and collaboration.
BI & Dashboards: Hands-on experience with tools like Tableau, Superset, or Grafana to create clear, insightful dashboards.
Analytical Storytelling: Able to translate complex datasets into visual insights that drive decisions.
Communication: Comfortable working with technical and non-technical teams in English.
Global Collaboration: Experience staying in alignment with a global team (US and Czech colleagues) and managing coordinated projects asynchronously.
Leadership: track record of mentoring or guiding less experienced engineers.
Education: Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
SaaS Experience: Experience as part of a SaaS provider leveraging consumption billing is highly desired
FAIR Knowledge: Knowledge of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) principles.
Dashboards & Reporting: Create dashboards and reports (e.g., cloud spend, margins) using tools like Tableau, Superset, and Grafana.
