The Role
As a Security Intern, you'll play a vital support role in ensuring the security and privacy of sensitive health data, specifically related to HIPAA and GDPR. You will gain valuable exposure by assisting the team in maintaining our security posture across our AWS cloud environment and contributing to the strategic maturity of our security program.
This position is based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for a 12-week term.
What You’ll Do
This internship projects offer broad exposure across compliance, cloud infrastructure, and application security:
Compliance and Strategic Support
Assist the Security team by organizing and cataloging documentation related to HIPAA and GDPR security controls and operational evidence.
Support the maintenance of security policies and procedures by helping to ensure documents are current and aligned with regulatory changes.
Research current and emerging security technologies, summarizing findings to support input for the annual Security Roadmap planning process.
Cloud Security (AWS)
Monitor and report on security logs and alerts within our AWS cloud environment under direct supervision.
Learn to perform basic configuration reviews of key AWS services (e.g., S3, EC2, IAM) to identify and document security misconfigurations.
Document and verify best practices for Identity and Access Management (IAM) and least-privilege principles in a cloud setting.
Application Security and DevSecOps
Shadow and assist the development team in integrating simple security testing tools into the Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline.
Execute basic vulnerability scans on applications and help prioritize remediation tasks alongside developers.
Learn the vulnerability management process related to open-source dependencies and third-party tools.
What We’re Looking For
Required
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Foundational knowledge of security principles, network concepts, and operating systems.
Familiarity with or strong desire to learn AWS cloud computing concepts.
Basic understanding of major security and privacy regulations like HIPAA or GDPR.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with an ability to clearly document technical processes.
Nice to Have
Experience with a scripting language (e.g., Python or Bash).
Prior exposure to security monitoring tools or Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems.
Academic project experience involving vulnerability scanning (SAST/DAST) or CI/CD pipelines.
