Position Overview
The Senior Data Analyst is pivotal in driving the strategic analysis and visualization of financial and operational data within our multi-million dollar Professional Services business unit in the United States. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Operations, this role specializes in transforming complex data sets into actionable insights that support decision-making and business strategy. The analyst will focus on visual storytelling to depict trends, patterns, and forecasts that inform leadership and enhance business operations.
Key Responsibilities
Data Visualization and Reporting: Develop and maintain advanced visual reports and dashboards to illustrate the business unit’s financial status, operational efficiency, and key performance indicators using tools like Tableau and PowerBI.
Analytical Storytelling: Interpret complex financial and operational data to provide clear, engaging insights and narratives that help senior leadership make informed strategic decisions.
Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize statistical techniques to analyze trends in professional services revenue metrics, such as backlog revenue, recognized revenue, profit margins, and resource utilization rates. Use these insights to influence strategic planning and operational adjustments.
Collaboration and Integration: Work closely with teams across professional services to ensure financial reporting aligns with business objectives. Facilitate cross-departmental data-sharing initiatives to enhance overall data accuracy and utility.
System Enhancement and Compliance: Optimize data collection and reporting frameworks to improve the integrity and efficiency of data-driven processes. Ensure strict compliance with financial and operational policies, especially regarding timesheet management and revenue tracking.
Operational Analytics: Oversee and refine the timesheet recording process and analyze related data to optimize labor allocation and project costing.
Qualifications
Educational Background: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Data Science, Analytics, Finance, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in data analysis or a closely related field, with a proven track record of delivering impactful data insights and analytics solutions in a business context
Technical Proficiency: High proficiency in advanced analytics platforms and tools beyond basic Tableau and Power BI, such as SAS, R, or Python for data manipulation and complex analyses.
Business Acumen: Strong understanding of the business industry, particularly in professional services, to contextualize data analysis within broader business strategies.
Analytical Skills: Exceptional ability to translate complex data into informative insights and compelling stories. Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
Innovative Thinking: Ability to innovate and think strategically about how big data can solve business problems, improve decision-making, and drive business strategy forward.
